Symptoms of Malignant Mesothelioma
Information about Mesothelioma:

Mesothelioma is a very new type of cancer, infecting a large number of people now-a-days, caused due to increase in the use of asbestos. Until and unless you or your relatives have this disease, you may not know about it. Actually, Mesothelioma or malignant mesothelioma is a very dangerous type of cancer. We can also call it as the cancer of the mesothelium, or lining of the lung and chest cavity. Cancer of peritoneum or the lining of the abdomen can also be included in it. It is mostly caused due to exposure to asbestos. This disease does not show any immediate symptom. It slowly causes changes in a normal functioning human body. The symptoms of this disease are developed within 20-50 years after exposure to asbestos.

Symptoms of Malignant Mesothelioma:

Being exposed to asbestos, after a long time, the following symptoms of malignant mesothelioma can be seen in a human being:

 

  1. Chest Pain
  2. Cough
  3. Weight Loss
  4. Shortness of breathe

Malignant mesothelioma caused in the abdomen shows the following symptoms:

  1. Weight Loss
  2. Abdominal swelling and pain

Sometimes, we are not even aware of that we are suffering from mesothelioma because the disease develops in the body at a very slow rate showing very common type of symptoms. A numerous diseases can be listed that are caused due to asbestos, few of them are, as asbestosis, pleural plaques, pleural effusion, and thickening, malignant mesothelioma, and lung cancer.

Exposure to asbestos was common during 1975 as people used asbestos fibers very frequently. While few reasons responsible for exposure to asbestos are listed as follows:

  1. Jobs at asbestos mining and milling plants
  2. Working at shipyards
  3. Fireproofing and heating
  4. Construction
  5. Insulation
  6. Automotive repair
  7. Pipefitting
  8. Boiler making.

While working at different industrial locations, knowingly or unknowingly, you may have been exposed to asbestos. Asbestos exposure also occurs if any of your household members worked with asbestos and carried the asbestos particles to on his or her hair, body or clothing. If you stay in any industrial area or nearby any industrial area, you can be exposed to asbestos accidentally. This disease affects the human body only after a prolonged exposure to asbestos but sometimes it is possible that even a brief exposure to asbestos causes malignant mesothelioma.

Most of the people suffer from lung cancer due to smoking. If any of the people suffering from lung cancer has to work in an environment that gave an exposure to asbestos, they should immediately concern an attorney that is specialized in handling mesothelioma and lung cancer cases.
